Seddon appoints Mark Walker as Managing Director of Housing Partnerships

Seddon has announced the appointment of Mark Walker as Managing Director of its Housing Partnerships company.

Mark, who has worked at Seddon for almost seven years and has held the role of Commercial Director for the past three, will lead the family-owned contractor’s work with social housing providers across the North and Midlands.

He succeeds Peter Jackson, who is stepping down after almost 20 years with the business.

Over the past three years, Mark and Peter have worked closely together to reshape and strengthen Seddon’s Housing Partnerships team, positioning it to respond to the increasingly complex challenges facing housing associations and local authorities.

Mark has led Seddon’s work with landlords to increase new-build capacity, retrofit ageing homes, and transform estates to meet the needs of modern living. He has overseen key regeneration projects, including at Whitebirk in Blackburn, where 152 new homes are being built to replace ageing housing and make better use of the area, alongside the Shadsworth estate scheme, providing 93 homes for social rent as part of a wider programme of works.

Mark Walker, Managing Director of Housing Partnerships at Seddon, said:

“Seddon has a proud history of working with landlords to build new homes and regenerate neighbourhoods while putting local people at the heart of its work, creating jobs and investing in communities. I’m proud to be able to continue that work.

“We know housing associations and councils are under pressure to step up delivery, while continuing to invest in current homes. We also know the operational, governance and financial challenges those pressures bring, and our aim is always to work in partnership to unlock development opportunities, support with capacity and skills, and make sure tenants drive change and investment in the homes and places where they live.

“As a family-owned business, Seddon can work with landlords in ways that others often can’t. We are flexible, values-driven, pragmatic and able to adapt to changes in the market to help schemes remain viable. At the same time, we have an unwavering commitment to delivering social value, creating local jobs and leaving a positive legacy wherever we invest.

“Better homes lead to better lives, and my focus is on continuing the work Peter and I have built – expanding our partnerships and supporting landlords to deliver homes and estates that meet the needs of modern living.”

Jonathan Seddon, Chief Executive of Seddon, added:

“I am delighted to congratulate Mark on his appointment. He has played a pivotal role in shaping our Housing Partnerships business over recent years and has the experience, values and leadership to continue its growth.

“This success has been built by a strong leadership team, and I want to recognise the significant contributions of Peter Jackson, Richard Sterling and Tony Clark, who together with Mark have worked to strengthen the business and position it for the future.

“I would also like to sincerely thank Peter Jackson for his outstanding contribution to Seddon over two decades. His leadership, alongside the wider team, has left the business in a very strong position, and his work alongside Mark has ensured a smooth transition and a clear platform for the future.”

The appointment underlines Seddon’s long-term commitment to the social housing sector and its continued focus on partnership, quality and community impact.
