Leading the way in lower-carbon roofing
The launch of Edgemere 2.0 marks a significant step in Marley’s carbon leadership journey, making us the first manufacturer in the UK to offer a concrete roof tile that utilises carbon-capture cement technology.
In the manufacture of concrete tiles, the cement production is the most carbon intensive process. Edgemere 2.0 addresses this challenge to offer a carbon reduction with the use of carbon-capture cement technology.
During cement manufacture, CO₂ is captured before it can enter the atmosphere, then liquefied, transported and permanently stored 2.6km beneath the North Sea seabed.

But it’s more than that!
Edgemere 2.0 is about more than reducing embodied carbon. Every order is supported by traceable carbon reduction evidence through a third-party verified, publicly available Carbon Bank.
Each kilogram of captured and permanently stored CO₂ is recorded within the Carbon Bank, with the associated carbon reductions allocated to specific Edgemere 2.0 orders and evidenced through an Environmental Attribute Certificate (EAC).
This provides a transparent and auditable record of the carbon reductions associated with your project, giving you confidence that the claimed savings are factual, traceable and independently verified.

Edgemere 2.0 is supported by Heidelberg Materials’ EvoZero® carbon captured near-zero cement, enabled through the first carbon capture facility at its cement works in Brevik, Norway. To avoid the transport emissions that would be incurred by shipping from Brevik, Edgemere 2.0 CO₂ reduction can be transferred and attributed using locally sourced Heidelberg cement.
