This latest deal means that, so far this year, Bromford has secured land for 175 affordable homes.
Leading housing association Bromford has completed the purchase of a site in Brierley Hill, West Midlands furthering its commitment to delivering much-needed affordable housing.
The Brierley Hill site, a historical brownfield site allocated for residential development by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council in 2017, was purchased from Harworth and will deliver 50 new homes. The site has full planning permission with work expecting to start in the next few months.
The development, made possible through Homes England funding, will include a mix of properties, 16 two-bedroom maisonettes and 14 three-bedroom houses for affordable rent. There will also be 20 three-bedroom houses for affordable home ownership, through its shared ownership scheme.
Bromford’s Head of Land, Lyndon Parkes, said: “So far this year, we’ve secured land for 175 affordable homes, creating opportunities for people to access quality housing in areas where it’s needed most. Sites like Brierley Hill allow us to make better use of brownfield land, turning it into a place where local residents can thrive.
“With thousands of families on housing waiting lists in areas like Dudley, we are dedicated to increasing housing supply and meeting demand. As the country’s leading developer of social rent homes, we’ll continue to identify opportunities to secure land and provide homes that support communities.”
The new homes, a mix of semi-detached, terrace, and back-to-back properties, are designed to offer high-quality, affordable living options for local people.
Last October, Bromford partnered with the West Midlands Combined Authority and four other housing associations to deliver affordable homes across the region. At the heart of this partnership is a shared commitment to creating safe, affordable homes for local people. This development in Brierley Hill reflects Bromford’s dedication to addressing the housing need and supports Mayor Richard Parker’s target of delivering 20,000 affordable homes across the West Midlands by 2028.
