AliDeck supply aluminium decking to major fire safety remediation project for Wandle

Fire safety remediation in the external envelope continues to be a key issue affecting the housing sector. Balcony components manufacturer AliDeck recently supplied their aluminium decking system to a major fire safety remediation project in Southwark for Wandle Housing Association and Breyer Group.

Comprising several four-storey blocks at Evan Cook Close, issues were identified in the external envelope of the buildings as part of EWS1 inspections. Specifically, the timber decking present in large quantities across the balconies, roof terraces and common walkways posed a fire safety risk, preventing a compliant EWS1 certificate being issued.

The AliDeck team made multiple site visits to ascertain the requirements for the project, revealing a complex proposition with multiple falls to waterproofing layers, curved raised flowerbeds, branching decked walkways, and more.

AliDeck Approved Installer Alu-Installations completed the timber decking replacement to all areas, overcoming the various challenges across the site. An additional aspect to some balconies was privacy screens. Constructed from timber fixed to a steel frame, the AliClad Lite cladding board was chosen to supply a simple, cost-effective, and highly effective replacement solution.

The progress made on this project is very encouraging to see and the close collaboration between all stakeholders has been key to its success.
