Community grows as families move into coastal Norfolk development

Thirty families have moved into their new homes just minutes from the Norfolk coast.

Flagship Homes, part of Bromford Flagship, has finished building Ashcroft, a development of 30 homes for affordable rent off Estcourt Road in Great Yarmouth. Lowestoft-based Fox Group was principal contractor, with additional support through funding from Homes England.

The homes are a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes and one-bedroom flats and have been allocated to families from local waiting lists. These affordable rent homes, which is up to 80% of market rent, will now be managed by Bromford Flagship housing association Newtide Homes.

Flagship Homes project manager Oleg Barsoukov said:

“We’re building homes to meet the needs of the local community and to enable them to thrive. The responses from both them and the local council have been really positive.

“It’s such a great opportunity to be able to work with Fox Group on a site this size in the middle of a town like Great Yarmouth. There’s a strong cultural history in this area, and we’re proud to help this community grow and add to that story.”

Beyond providing much-needed homes, each property comes with green technology like air source heat pumps for efficient heating and electric vehicle chargers.

Jordan Fox, Fox Group co-owner, said: “We’re really proud to be a part of this development, and we’re excited to see how the community flourishes from here.

“Flagship Homes has been a great partner to work with and we’re looking forward to future projects with them.”

Ashcroft is on a site that used to be part of the nearby Northgate Hospital, with the disused former administration building – the Drake Centre – demolished to make way for the new homes. Great Yarmouth’s famous Royal Mile and seafront are also only minutes away, with easy access for families to shops as well as the town’s good transport links.
