Places for People named as Best Workplace for Women

Places for People is one of 19 super large organisations in the country to be recognised as one of the 2020 Best Workplaces for Women by Great Place to Work. This is the first time Places for People has entered the award.

The award celebrates organisations that promote a fully inclusive work culture, as well as strong representation of women across the workforce and in senior positions. Places for People was named 17 in the super-large workplace (1000+) category alongside the likes of Hilton, Gap, and Homecare.

The ranking is based on the results of the Great Place to Work employee survey and follows our success of being listed as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces in April 2020.  Commenting on the award, Debi Marriott-Lavery, Group Executive Director – Affordable Housing said, “Creating a great place to work where everyone can contribute and succeed regardless of gender is essential and I’m proud of the inclusive culture we have at Places for People. This award validates the work we do to attract, nurture, and retain women in all roles and levels of the organisation. I’m pleased to say that because of this, 57% of colleagues are female, we have increased the number of women in trade roles, and 60% of our most senior positions are now held by women.”

Sally Smith, Chief People Officer added “We have been working hard to improve our gender balance across the Group including improving representation in Senior Management, reviewing our recruitment policies and encouraging more women to apply for roles which have a strong gender imbalance nationally.”

“However, we recognise there is always more work to do and we are fully committed to creating an environment where all colleagues can thrive and achieve their potential.”

David Cowans, Chief Executive at Places for People said, “It’s fantastic to be recognised as a great place to work for women. As an organisation we strive to achieve a diverse and inclusive workforce where everyone is treated fairly.”
