Housing provider to help apprentices reach new heights

Housing provider Newark and Sherwood Homes launched its first apprentice scheme, Recruiting and Employing Apprentices Championing Housing Champions (REACH) this month, during the Future First Expo in Newark (4 May).

The company has been working hard to create its own apprenticeship scheme to showcase the wide breadth of careers available in the housing sector. The REACH programme was given momentum following the announcement of the apprenticeship levy, which will aim create 20 million apprenticeship placements by 2020.

The Futures First Expo is a new event which will celebrate everything Newark and Sherwood has to offer in terms of careers, training and education.

Dara Voice, internal capacity coordinator at Newark and Sherwood Homes, said:

“We are delighted to be launching the REACH scheme at the Future First Expo, which will promote the varied roles available within the housing sector and show local people how diverse we are.

“Our new apprenticeship scheme allows us to invest in those who want to develop a career in housing services and we hope to grow our apprenticeships year on year. We’re confident that it will be a huge success and we look forward to seeing our apprentices succeed. It’s an exciting time for the company and I’m looking forward to finding our housing champions during the Future First Expo.”

During the expo, Newark and Sherwood Homes will join other local businesses to discuss the REACH scheme and other career opportunities available within the company

Newark and Sherwood Homes is an exciting local company offering fantastic career opportunities; last year the company was placed 27th in industry magazine, Inside Housing’s Innovation Index, as a top employer for 2016.
